She Saw 'Zero Pants' in My Queue: Couples Confess the Moment the Podcast History Came Out

There's a moment every man who listens to this show knows is coming. You're on a road trip. Your girlfriend grabs your phone to play her playlist. And there it is, sitting in your recently played like a confession you never made: 'No Pants, No Problem.'
We've heard this story more times than we can count, so this week we decided to collect a few of them — the discovery, the damage control, and the surprisingly wholesome places some of these conversations ended up.
The Discovery
Marcus, 34, from Columbus, told us his wife found his listening history while looking for an audiobook for a flight. 'She scrolled for maybe four seconds and just said, Zero Pants? Like it was a question on a quiz show.'
His first instinct, he admits, was to lie. 'I said it was a comedy show. Which, honestly, is only half a lie.'
Another listener, Dre from Atlanta, had it worse: his partner heard the actual audio. 'I fell asleep with earbuds in. She woke up to four grown men debating whether towels at a nudist resort are a courtesy or a cop-out. She thought I'd joined a cult.'
The Defensive Phase
Here's what we learned from a few dozen of these stories: nobody explains themselves well in the first five minutes.
The excuses follow a pattern. It's 'for research.' It's 'ironic listening.' It's 'a work thing.' One guy in Denver told his girlfriend the podcast was about 'male wellness,' which — fine, technically — but he said it in a tone that made it sound like a diagnosis.
The defensiveness is the tell, though. And eventually, most partners cut through it with the same question: why didn't you just tell me you listen to this?
That question lands harder than it should. Because the honest answer — that a lot of guys are quietly working through stuff about their bodies and don't have the words for it yet — is more vulnerable than anyone wants to be at 11 p.m. on a Tuesday.
The Conversation That Followed
This is where the stories stop being funny and start being kind of beautiful.
Marcus's wife eventually listened to an episode herself — the one about gym locker rooms dying out — and came back with opinions. Real ones. 'She said the episode made her sad for our son, who changes for PE in a bathroom stall because he's embarrassed. That opened a door we'd never walked through.'
Dre's girlfriend had a different reaction: 'She said, so you've been listening to guys talk about body stuff for a year and never once talked to me about your own? Brutal. Fair.'
That's the pattern underneath the comedy. Guys use a podcast about nudity as a low-stakes entry point into conversations they can't start directly — about aging, about how they see themselves in the mirror, about the stuff they'd never say out loud without a buffer.
From Headphones to the Beach
And then there's the ending nobody saw coming: several couples told us the podcast history scandal turned into an actual trip.
Marcus and his wife hit a clothing-optional beach in Florida last spring. 'She suggested it. I nearly drove off the road.' He swears the first twenty minutes were the most awkward of his marriage. 'The next two hours were the most honest conversation we've had in years. Something about nobody wearing a costume — literal or otherwise.'
Not every story ends that way. One listener's girlfriend listened to exactly ninety seconds of an episode about bachelor party dares and handed his phone back with the words 'you're a lot,' which he describes as 'a fair verdict.'
But enough couples made the leap that we're comfortable saying it: the naked podcast in your queue is not the problem. The silence around it is.
A Word to the Partners
If you're the one who found the queue: yes, the episode titles are ridiculous. We know. We write them. But behind 'Zero Pants' is usually a guy who heard other men say out loud the insecurities he thought were only his — and kept listening because of it.
Ask him what he's gotten out of it. The answer might surprise you. It might even come with a beach recommendation.
And if you're the guy with the queue: delete nothing. Own it. The truth is a lot funnier — and a lot more interesting — than 'it's for research.'
